The Race That Stops a Nation… and the World. Melbourne Cup 2026

Australia’s greatest race is almost here.

The 2026 Melbourne Cup. The race that stops the nation… and the world.

On the first Tuesday of November, Tuesday 3 November, Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia, will host the birth of a new legend. Two miles. The finest staying thoroughbreds on the planet with one shot at immortality.

Since the very first Cup in 1861, this race has been the cornerstone of thoroughbred racing in Australia. More than a sport, a way of life. Fashion, glamour, garden parties and a carnival atmosphere unlike anything else in world sport. It’s also one of the richest staying handicaps on earth, with a $10 million prize pool and a cool $4.5 million waiting for the winning connections.

But the real magic is the crowd. At Flemington, the Cup cuts across every walk of life. The fashion-forward strut the lawns, colourful characters set up their picnics in the car park, and the business set hobnob in the corporate marquees. And as the champagne flows, everyone loosens up and becomes one big, roaring Cup family.

And that family stretches far beyond Flemington. Whether you’re in London, Lisbon, Los Angeles or Lagos, this years Cup can be yours too.

The Cup jumps at approximately 3:00pm AEDT. Check your local time, mark it in the diary and make a plan. Gather your people. Host a Cup party, dust off the fascinator, pick your horse and have a sweep. Spread the word.
