Godolphin Australia supremo Andy Makiv said Tempted is "definitely a candidate" to strut racing's international stage before she is eventually retired to stud.

"Godolphin's headquarters are in Dubai so something like the Al Quoz Sprint (Dubai World Cup meeting) could be interesting,'' Makiv said.

"It would be very exciting to show a filly like this off to the founder Sheikh Mohammed in Dubai if the timing worked for her.

"Then it is quite hard to get home from Dubai through quarantine without going via England anyway.

"So, I think if Royal Ascot is on the cards then Dubai is on the cards as well because it would be nice to showcase her globally.

"A bit like Ka Ying Rising taking the challenge abroad, I'm sure at some stage with a mare of her talent and quality, we are likely to do the same.''

Makiv admitted "a lot of water has to flow under the bridge" before a decision is made whether to take Tempted overseas next year or wait for 2028.

There is also the possibility of having a third Everest showdown in 2027 with Hong Kong champion Ka Ying Rising after Tempted reversed the placings from their 2025 clash.

TAB Fixed Odds has already opened betting on the 2027 Everest with Ka Ying Rising early favourite at $1.90 with Tempted next at $4.50 then Autumn Glow at $11.

But the more immediate focus is determining if Tempted has another start this spring in either the Group 2 $3 million Russell Balding Stakes (1300m) at Royal Randwick on October 31 or the Group 1 $3 million Champions Sprint (1200) at Flemington on November 7.

"We have looked after her to this point, she has only had the three runs in her last two preparations,'' Makiv said.

"She has had three runs this time in but when she went to the paddock after winning the Arrowfield (Stakes in April) she was particularly well, almost to the point she probably needed another run she was so well.

"The Everest would have taken something out of her so we will see how she pulls up.''

Makiv said although the Russell Balding Stakes is a definite consideration, Godolphin probably has a slight leaning to chasing more Group 1 success in the Champions Sprint.

Meanwhile, Ka Ying Rising left Sydney earlier today and is due to arrive in Hong Kong this evening.

Ka Ying Rising's trainer David Hayes has heard all the reasons why his champion was beaten including track conditions, race tempo, even criticism of Zac Purton's ride, but he has his own theory.

"I honestly believe it was more to do with how wide he was on the track on the home turn,'' Hayes said.

"The same thing has happened in both his barrier trials at Randwick and in The Everest last Saturday, he was so wide out he got a bit 'lost' out here.

"He couldn't see the inside rail and didn't really know where he was so he lost some momentum. In Hong Kong, he's always on the rail or no more two of three horses away form it.''

Hayes said he would do things differently if Ka Ying Rising returns for another Everest next year.

"I think if we come back for The Everest next year, and that is our plan at this stage, I would use winkers on him in the barrier trial at least just to help him stay focussed,'' Hayes said.

"Despite everything that has been said about the race, he has run superbly and only just missed catching Tempted on the line. I reckon he feels he won the race!"
