The Brad Widdup-trained Savvy Hallie ran so well when an impressive second behind Godolphin's outstanding mare Tempted in the Premiere Stakes last Saturday that it was enough to convince slot-holder Mulberry Racing to secure the mare for The Everest.

Racing And Sports understands Mulberry Racing is submitting the necessary paperwork with Racing NSW today for Savvy Hallie to line-up in The Everest on October 17.

Savvy Hallie put herself into The Everest conversation when she ran fast time to win the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes a month ago and then had a slight setback before her very good second to Tempted in the Premiere.

Widdup revealed Savvy Hallie was 3kg over her Sheraco Stakes-winning weight in the Premiere and is adamant the mare has improvement to come going into The Everest.

"Savvy Hallie has come through Saturday really well, I couldn't be happier with how she has pulled up from that race,'' Widdup said.

"For a moment there in the straight I got a bit excited that she could win the race but Tempted was too good.

"But I know we have a bit to work with going into The Everest and our mare will be at her best for the race.

"It's all working out well and I can't see her not running a competitive race in The Everest because she tries so hard in her races.''

Savvy Hallie is currently at $51 chance with Oversea reference odds for The Everest where the betting is dominated by Hong Kong superstar Ka Ying Rising at $1.30 favourite and Tempted at $6.

Ka Ying Rising won The Everest last year and returns to Sydney on a 21-race winning streak while Tempted hasn't been beaten since her second behind the Hong Kong champion at Randwick 12 months ago.

But the one horse that has come closest to beating Tempted since The Everest last year was Savvy Hallie who ran the Godolphin mare to a nose in the Group 1 Surround Stakes in March.

Widdup had Jedibeel contest The Everest last year with the sprinter finishing only 11th but Savvy Hallie will go into the world's richest turf race as a legitimate each way contender.

"I'd love to have a runner in the Melbourne Cup one day but it's huge to get another runner in The Everest,'' Widdup added.

Savvy Hallie joins Ka Ying Rising (slot-holder Hong Kong Jockey Club), Ninja (Fairway Thoroughbreds), Headwall (Max Whitby, Neil Werrett, Col Madden, Steve McCann), Blue Door (Newgate) and Spicy Martini (Inglis) as confirmed Everest runners.

Tempted is a lock to be selected as Godolphin's Everest runner, Chris Waller Racing has Joliestar as their number one seed, and Yulong are likely to announce Angel Capital for their slot.

There is speculation Jimmysstar will be snapped up soon with TAB the front-runner, leaving Coolmore and James Harron still to finalise their Everest representative.

Coolmore had Guest House ready for their slot until the colt suffered a hamstring injury that has ruled him out for the spring.

Coolmore's Tom Magnier also has the brilliant colt St Gotthard in the mix but told Racing And Sports the plan at this stage is for the last start Golden Rose runner-up was to go to the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day.

James Harron, who has twice made the right call in The Everest with Redzel (2017) and Giga Kick (2022) said he was considering a number of sprinters for his slot.
